My Twenty Second Week In the Mission Field

Last week's preparation day we were challenged by the members in basketball.  We played in the Church's basketball court. We won the first round but lose on the second and third round. After the game we went to a store in front of the Church to have our breakfast with them. We had Hiebol, a noodle soup with pig's intestines in it which I love because I love exotic food.  

 

The rest of the day was as usual missionary P-day. In the evening, we're back to normal missionary schedule of which we had a Family Home Evening with the Trinidad Family. The Ramones Family also joined in and we had lots of fun and games. After the FHE we ate spaghetti and the rest I forgot. After the fun, eating, drinking and being merry we headed home to take a rest.

 

Our work last week was awesome. My companion and I split because we have a lot of investigators to teach. The Trinidad couple we are preparing to get wedded and baptize has to be rescheduled until next week.  

 

People we visited last week are the Trinidad Family, Nanay Baxa, Nanay Cacal, Cudal Family, Mauanna, Tatay Emmanuel Agpalsa and Nanay Maneja.

 

I bear my testimony that as a missionary we should remember this quote... "Live what we teach, love who we teach , limit when we teach and learn why we teach." I know if we follow this we will always have fun in the mission and this can be applied to members as well as we are all enlisted to be teachers to our brethren and sisters here on earth as we are all representatives of our Lord Jesus Christ. I bear this testimony in the name of our Savior and Brother Jesus Christ. Amen.

My Twenty First Week in the Mission Field

P-day is great today just like all the rest of our preparation days except in the afternoon which is back to work till you drop!

This past week, we have lots of investigators:

- The Cudal-Cabusas Family, a mother and two kids (one boy and one girl). The kids are shy but they are learning to talk with us! The mother is a member and is coming back to Church. Life is hard for them without a  husband and a father.

- Nanay Gabriela Cristobal Ancheta, a member of the Church.  Nanay is quite weak in physical statutes but is strong in spirit. Michael and I were prompted by the spirit to go and visit her. We shared with her a short message and gave her a blessing. Despite of being sick and weak she wants to go to Church every Sunday.

- Nanay Caridad Cacal, she is "sipag" in cooking and loves listening to our message.

- Nanay Cresencia from my suspect is MJ's relative.

- Tatay Ace Galiza is a hardworking farmer. I haven't seen him go to church as much but his daughter is active.

- The Trinidad Family is an awesome family with McLord and Shawn as the RCs in the family. Their parents are not yet married but hopefully they can be married on the 28th of March. One of the daughters will be baptized on the 21st of March and the other one will be on April.

The children here loves to greet and follow us. I love the children here as well as those ones in Banna as they are funny and very interesting to be with.

Yesterday was Sunday and we tried to reach teaching 7 lessons. Wheww! We have around 9 investigators who came to Church.

Elder Gozon and I are working hard and going far! By the way, my birthday is coming up but nope, no plans yet. Just work, work and work....

I bear with you my testimony that faith without work is dead. Just like in missionary work, if we just pray but don't do anything to make our prayers work, our prayers are useless. For me, faith is to hope for things to happen later in the future but we have to put that hope into action to make it happen. This I testify in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

My Twentieth Week in the Mission Field

We had a Zone Activity last Monday and it was a great fun for everyone, but mostly I was focusing more on the food being sold at the food stalls nearby. Hehehehe... I ate a lot of bananaques and softdrinks. Bananaques are bananas cooked deep fried in oil and finally coated with caramel sugar. It is served in a barbeque stick, hence it's called bananaques! Very delicious!

 

During the activity I met a lot of missionaries and saw my trainer, Elder Aribbay! He is doing good and had a great chat with him. After the activity, we all went back to our areas to do evening teaching appointments.

 

My companion, Elder Gozon is very kind to me. He teaches me a lot of his techniques in teaching investigators. I consider him as my second trainer. He will be returning home on September 2015, so you can just calculate how long he has been on his mission already.

 

Bacarra is a hot place to live but missionary work here is fun as the members are very helpful with the missionaries. We also had a lot of dinner appointments here as members are keen to invite missionaries for dinner in their homes.

 

One of the guys who works with us is Brother Michael Baxa. He is cool and he is a writer. He does a lot of mission recording of our works here. He is really a great help for us. By the way, we are also living with the Zone Leaders and they are fun guys to be with.

 

Our Sacrament Meeting last Sunday went well. There were also several investigators who came to church. We will have some baptisms this coming March 14 or 21st. We also have a couple who we plan to get wedded first before their schedule of baptism these coming weeks. They already have kids of whom we are also teaching.

 

I have a testimony that missionary work is truly a great privilege and a blessing given to us by our loving Heavenly Father. It blesses my life by giving great joy to others and also to myself as it helps me grow spiritually, socially and in physical stature. I also know that it has brought upon many wonderful blessings to my family. And this is my testimony in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
